Mint is a fragrant herb with square stems, pointed oval leaves, and a fresh, cooling scent when crushed. The leaves are bright to dark green with fine toothed edges, and small purple or white flowers bloom in summer. It spreads quickly and grows in dense patches.
Found in gardens, near streams, damp meadows, hedgerows, and occasionally on roadsides. Mint thrives in moist, partly shaded areas and is often cultivated but can grow wild where soil is rich and damp.
Can be confused with other aromatic herbs or invasive mint-like species. Avoid harvesting from roadsides or polluted areas due to soil contamination.
